A New Beginning by Pat Patterson

This is the first of many weekly devotionals leading up to a lesson I will do in Robbie's absence in the May-June timeframe. It is a study of the Book of Joshua and God's promise to bring the Israelites into the Promise Land.

God had promised to give the Israelites the Land of Canaan since the time of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses and now Joshua. The Book of Joshua is a tremendous story of how God’s people finally accepted that which had been promised to them for so many years.

There are many truths in the Book of Joshua that apply to Christians today. As we have conquered death through the acceptance of the Blood of Christ, we too must go into the land that God has promised us and do as the Israelites did, claim what is given us.

The first step toward winning that battle and claiming our inheritance is to let God encourage us and then for us to encourage others. “See, the Lord has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your fathers, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” Deuteronomy 1:21.

As we progress through the Book of Joshua, we will find God’s truths for this victory. --Pat Patterson
